Yerevan Wine Days is an annual outdoor wine festival held at Republic Square over four days at the end of May into June. It brings together Armenian wineries, natural wine producers, and food vendors for a public tasting event at one of the most architecturally striking locations in the country — the travertine-paved square flanked by the Government House and the History Museum of Armenia.

Armenia has one of the world’s oldest continuous winemaking histories. The Areni-1 cave complex in the Vayots Dzor region yielded archaeological evidence of winemaking dating back approximately 6,100 years. Today, the country has a small but growing wine industry centred on indigenous grape varieties — Areni Noir is the most internationally recognised, but varieties such as Kangun, Voskehat, and Lalvari are also in production. The natural wine movement has found particular traction among smaller Armenian producers working with minimal intervention methods.

What you will find at the festival

Participating wineries range from established commercial producers to small family estates and natural wine makers. Each winery operates its own stand, and tastings are purchased individually by the glass rather than via a central festival pass in most years — though formats can vary, so check the current edition’s setup in advance. Food producers and kitchen vendors accompany the wine stands, offering dishes suited to accompany the tastings.

The festival runs through multiple sessions over its four days, typically in the afternoon and evening to avoid peak daytime heat. Republic Square in late May sits at around 25-28°C by day and cools pleasantly in the evening, making outdoor standing for extended tastings comfortable. Entry is usually free, with drink purchases made at individual stands. The location is central and walkable from all main hotel districts in Yerevan.
