Armenia Extends Visa-Free Access for GCC Residents and Western Permit Holders to July 2027
Armenia has extended a targeted visa-free arrangement that allows certain categories of foreign nationals to enter without prior visa application, with stays now permitted until July 2027.
Who Qualifies
The extension applies to two main groups:
GCC Residents — nationals of any country who hold valid residency in a Gulf Cooperation Council state (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman) qualify for visa-free entry into Armenia for stays of up to 180 days within any 12-month period.
US, EU, and Schengen Permit Holders — foreign nationals holding a valid, current residence permit issued by the United States, any European Union member state, or any Schengen Area country are also eligible for the same 180-day visa-free arrangement.
In both cases, the relevant permit must be current and presented alongside your passport at the border. Expired permits are not accepted.
Context: How This Fits Armenia’s Visa Policy
This arrangement is distinct from Armenia’s general visa-on-arrival and e-visa system, which applies to most nationalities. Earlier in 2026, Armenia ended a temporary blanket visa-free policy that had applied to a broader list of countries. The GCC-resident and permit-holder extension is a more targeted benefit for internationally mobile travellers — particularly the large number of third-country nationals living and working in the Gulf who use Armenia as a transit hub or short-break destination.
What to Know Before You Travel
The 180-day allowance is cumulative within a 12-month period, not 180 consecutive days on a single entry. If you leave and re-enter, the days count toward the same rolling total.
Entry is via Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) in Yerevan, or land border crossings from Georgia (Lars and Bagratashen are most commonly used), Iran (Meghri), and — depending on current conditions — from other neighbouring states.
